Earlier tonight, DUEW held its first ever House Show at the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. Here are the play-by-play results written by the DUEW DOT COM editor, Liam Kenneley:
The fans go wild as green and gold pyro starts to shoot from the small titan-tron. As the pyro stops, Mr Howard’s music hits and he comes out into the stage to address the fans.
Mr Howard: Congratulations. Congratulations on being the first crowd to ever witness a Down Under Extreme Wrestling House Show!
The crowd cheer loudly
Mr Howard: So, to kick off our ‘Not on TV Tour,’ I introduce to you…hailing from Deathvalley, being accompanied by Kane…The Nightmare!
The lights go out and boo’s start to echo around the Brisbane Entertainment Centre. ‘Ministry of Darkness’ then begins to play when a blue stoke of ‘lightning’ cracks on the stage and Nightmare comes out from backstage, closely followed by Kane. He slowly makes his way down the ramp, refusing to look at the crowd. He gets to the ring steps, makes his way up them, grabs the ringpost and throws his arm in the air, seemingly turning the lights on. Kane then gets up onto the ring apron and the two walk over the top rope and remain in the ring, closely talking to each other.
Mr Howard: And now, from Victoria, Texas, accompanied by Lemmy Campbell, Stone…Cold…Steve…AUSTIN!
The sound of broken glass hits the speakers and the crowd jump to their feet as Stone Cold and Lemmy come storming out from backstage. They stop on the top of the ramp; SCSA gives Nightmare the two fingers and starts running down the ramp, sliding into the ring and Lou Thesz Pressing Nightmare. The ref orders Lemmy and Kane out of the ring and the bell sounds.
*DING DING*
Steve Austin continues to lay into Nightmare for a good ten seconds before the referee calls for him to get off. Austin ignores the call, so the ref starts the DQ5 count: 1…2…3…Austin gets off and starts jumping around the ring with energy as the crowd go wild. As Nightmare gets to his feet, Austin bounces off the ropes and tries for a clothesline but Nightmare grabs his arm. He then begins to stalk SCSA while still holding his arm. Nightmare then twists around and locks in an armbar.
The crowd try and urge Austin out of the hold, and he eventually gets to the ropes, forcing Nightmare to let go. As Nightmare is arguing with the ref, Kane grabs Austin’s left foot and pulls it out from under him, causing Steve to face-plant onto the mat. Seeing this, Lemmy Campbell comes running at Kane and clotheslines him. Lemmy then jumps on top of Kane and begins laying into him with hard hooks. In the ring, Nightmare covers: 1…2…SCSA kicks out with ease. The referee then sees the two men on the outside, climbs out of the ring and breaks them up.
Taking advantage of this, Nightmare pulls some powder out of his pocket and throws it in Austin’s face. As Stone Cold is trying to sooth the pain, Nightmare bounces off the ropes and hits him with a big boot to the face. But instead of covering, he retrieves the ref from the outside, lifting him onto the apron with one arm. Nightmare then helps SCSA to his feet, kicks him in the stomach and pushes Austin’s head between his legs – getting him ready for a powerbomb. But SCSA reverses by lifting his head and throwing The Nightmare into the air, to land flat on his back. Austin smiles and heads for the turnbuckle. He climbs up, gives Nightmare the finger and jumps out, landing a flying elbow drop on ‘DUEW’s Phenom.’ Cover: 1…2…Kane places Nightmares foot on the ropes. Lemmy Campbell sees this and charges at Kane again, this time barging him face-first into the ring post. The referee sees this and tells Lemmy to get out. The crowd go crazy with boo’s at the referee as Lemmy makes his way up the ramp and backstage.
Meanwhile in the ring, SCSA has the advantage over Nightmare, laying into him with right hooks. Then, Nightmare blocks one of Steve Austin’s punches and locks in another armbar. This time he heads over to the nearest corner. He slowly climbs the turnbuckle from the inside and begins to walk along the top rope while still holding SCSA’s arm. But as he goes to jump out, Austin kicks the top rope and Nightmare goes falling onto the top rope with a leg either side.
Stone Cold begins laying into him again with right hooks before running to the opposite ropes to bounce off, but again – Kane grabs his foot and sends him crashing to the mat. The ref helps Nightmare off the ropes, which gives SCSA time to slowly get up, but by the time he gets to his feet, Nightmare has his hand around his neck. CHOKESLAM! Cover: 1…2…Stone Cold kicks out!
The crowd go wild as Nightmare shakes his head in amazement. He then heads to the turnbuckle, climbs up and kneels on the top, waiting for Stone Cold to get to his feet. As soon as Austin gets to his feet, Nightmare jumps out with his leg horizontally in front of him – smashing Austin in the face with a top-rope Big Boot. Nightmare slowly makes his way over to Austin and places his forearm across the neck of SCSA for the cover: 1…2…3.
‘Ministry of Darkness’ hits the speakers and the crowd boo loudly as Kane rushes into the ring, but instead of helping Nightmare to his feet, he grabs Austin by the neck and raises him up to his feet. He then hurls SCSA by the throat into the corner and begins laying into him with rights and lefts to the gut. The bell continues to ring and officials run down the ramp to restrain Kane and take him backstage.
A promo then plays on the titan-tron screens promoting DUEW.com.
Mr Howard then comes out onto the stage with a mic in his hand.
Mr Howard: Congratulations to Nightmare who won the first ever DUEW House Show match!
Boos sound all over the arena with ‘Night-mare-sucks’ chants starting up.
Mr Howard: And it is time for our next matchup. Introducing first, making his DUEW debut. From Charleston, West Virginia…Numb!
‘Here comes the boom’ hits the speakers and Numb comes walking out from backstage, smiling at the audience. He goes to one side of the stage and raises his arms, to get a slight pop from the crowd. Satisfied, he walks over to the other side of the stage and does the same, to receive a slightly bigger pop. He then walks down the ramp nodding his head. He slides into the ring, poses on a turnbuckle and begins to hype up the crowd.
Mr Howard: And his opponent, from Thornlie, Western Australiaaaa. SUCKY!
The crowd erupt with boos as Sucky makes his way out onto the stage. He stares the crowd with ‘evil eyes’ before pacing down the ramp yelling ‘Fuck you too!’ and ‘Shut the fuck up!’ He climbs up onto the ring apron, jumps in the ring and stares down Numb as the bell rings.
**DING DING**
The two men stare each other down for a few seconds before Sucky runs at Numb with his shoulder, but Numb steps aside – sending Sucky into the ropes. As Sucky turns around to face Numb, he has a mad look on his face and goes for a right hook, but Numb ducks, throws Sucky’s arm over his head and hits a T-Bone suplex. As Numb gets to his feet, the crowd begin to cheer him on. Numb then walks over and goes to help Sucky to his feet, but Sucky hits hi with a low-blow. Sucky then puts Numbs head between his legs and lifts him up in a vertical position – hitting a piledriver. Sucky hooks the outside leg: 1…2…Numb kicks out!
Sucky complains to the ref, which gives Numb some time to get to his feet. The two men then lock up, with Numb coming out on top, having a monkey-grip on Sucky from behind. Numb goes to lift Sucky up for a German Suplex, but Sucky places his foot on Numbs calf – blocking the suplex. Sucky then reverses Numbs grip, and locks in one of his own. Sucky lifts Numb up, turns him 180 degrees and slams him down on his front. Sucky then wrenches his opponent’s arms and places his knee on Numbs neck, then jerking his arms back. The ref checks if Numb wants to submit, but Numb reaches out and grabs the bottom rope.
The referee begins his DQ5 count, and gets to 4 before Sucky lets go. Sucky then begins to stomp Numb while he is on the ground, forcing Numb out of the ring. Sucky follows him, rolling out of the ring. The two men then begin to brawl on the outside until Numb punches Sucky to the ground. But as Numb goes to help Sucky to his feet, he gets slacked over the head with a kendo-stick. The ref calls for the bell. Sucky begins to hit Numb time and time again with the stick until it completely snaps in half – this opens up a gash on Numbs forehead. Sucky then slowly makes his way backstage, looking very proud of his work.
Mr Howard: And your winner…by disqualification, Numb!
The let out a quiet cheer as Numb gets to his feet in the middle of the ring. He then makes his way backstage, holding his bloodied head.
Mr Howard: And your ne…
Mr Howard is cut off when ‘Sex Machine’ hits the speakers and the crowd jump to their feet. Mr Lover and Ken Paradise then run out from backstage wearing red Hawaiian shirts and their ring attire, holding giant water pistols. They make their way down the ramp, squirting the cheering crowd with their guns. They then slide into the ring an squirt the crowd on either side. Mr Lover grabs a mic and Paradise stands on the turnbuckle, shooting people with water.
Mr Lover: Is it hot in here or is it just me?!
The crowd cheer.
Mr Lover: Or…maybe it’s the awesome Brisbane weather! It’s paradise here, you can wear these Hawaiian shirts every day of the year!
The crowd cheer again.
Mr Lover: But we aren’t all fun and games tonight. We’re out here for a reason! As you may, or may not know – we aren’t booked tonight!
The crowd boo.
Mr Lover: But we still want a match! So, Mr Howard – give us a match right here, right now!
Mr Howard moves into the middle of the titan-tron stage.
Mr Howard: You aren’t booked, therefore you aren’t wrestling!
The crowd boo.
Mr Lover: But we are the best tag team DUEW has. And I know all these fans want to see us wrestle!!
The crowd cheer.
Mr Howard: When I say no, I mean NO! Now get backstage, right now!
The crowd boo louder and louder until Mr Howard gives in.
Mr Howard: Ok, I’ll give you your match!
The crowd cheer.
Mr Howard: A three on two match!!!
Kane and Pyro come running down the ramp, slide into the ring and clothesline Lover and Ken. They then begin stomping them as Jonny Stripes comes walking slowly down the ramp, smiling. He jumps up onto the ring apron, gets into the ring and tells Kane and Pyro to clear his path. He picks both Ken and Lover up by the throat, one in each hand and throws them both into the same corner. He then goes to the opposite corner and runs at them – hitting a double Star and Stripe Splash. Kane then grabs Lover by the throat and Pyro gets Ken in a Military Press. Kane chokeslams Lover hard on the mat and Pyro throws Ken on top of Lover. Jonny Stripes then walks in, lifts Ken to his feet, kicks him in the stomach and hits a Sit-Down Powerbomb onto Lover’s lifeless Body. He then places his right foot on top of Ken’s chest for the cover: 1…2…3.
The three men then hold their arms up in victory as the bell rings.
Mr Howard: The winners of this match, Kane, Pyro and Jonny…STRIPES!
The crowd begin to boo. Then, all-of-a-sudden, Jonny clotheslines Kane. He then turns and grabs Pyro by the throat. He then lifts him up into a Military Press, then dropping him down and hitting a spinebuster.
Stripes stares angrily at the other man lying in the ring as he calls for a mic.
Jonny Stripes: You see that!? That’s just an EXAMPLE of what I’m gonna do to Brock Lesnar in two weeks time! And it’s what I’ll do to ANY person that crossed my path!
Jonny climbs out of the ring and walks back up the ramp, shaking his head.
